While working on my 7/2 Flak 38, I have been putting off one step because it kind of scared me. So one night I researched and researched, then decided to take a crack at it. The leater seats in the cab. Now I know there are many ways to do them, and car guys are very good at them, but I have never done it before, so I was a little nervous. The fact that the seats will be in an enclosed cab helped settle my mind a little, but the dorrs were going to be open, so I wanted them to look half way decent. Well, I found a way that worked for me and I would like to share with you.

Step 1:
Paint the seats flat black. I did this part as my preshade for the cab, then masked them off while painting the rest. If you want to do brown leather, I would recomned brown color of your choice for this step.

Step 2:
Using one drop of each: German Cam. Beige, Light Brown, Iraqi Sand (all Vallejo), and flow enhancer, I made some worn areas of the seats.

Step 3:
I took Tamiya clear and brush painted it on with a soft flat brush. While it was drying I stippled the paint to get a textured look.

Step 4:
I took some artist pastels and ground them up on sand paper. I mixed some colors until I was happy then applied them to the seats with varying tones in different spots. The I took an artist blending stick and rubbed the pastels into the seats. This will rub some in but at the same time, remove some leaving a slight sheen in some places common with leather seats. The seats now look a little worn and dirty. As I finish the cab more I will add some more pigments and powders to match the wear and tear of the exterior.
